You will be joining a Europe-wide organisation that has treated over 280,000 people to date, is doubling in size year after year, and has recently raised $80m USD in its Series C funding round from leading global digital health investors.


As we scale our services and our team, we are looking for a PR & Thought Leadership Manager (a) to join our growing team.


The role:


Marketing and Public Relations will be a key growth driver in enabling Oviva to reach our ambitious growth targets by developing a distinct, emotional and authentic tone-of-voice, that positions us as the trusted authority on diabetes and obesity treatments, that resonates with healthcare providers and patients alike; and further develops a strong channel for direct patient advocacy so that Oviva maximises both reach and engagement to become the brand of choice.


Reporting to the Growth Marketing Lead, this role is responsible for driving the strategy, operations, execution, and expansion of our internal and external communication strategy. It requires a passion for words. Each market has different key stakeholders and therefore an adapted core story. The focus is on Germany and consumer/patient PR first, throwing a spotlight on the great service Oviva is offering, which is reimbursed by health insurances, while we are also looking into expanding our PR efforts in other markets.


You will drive our global PR & Thought Leadership process by finding new topics, prioritising them for the coming month with the country leadership teams, and defining the angles and outlets/events to leverage them (e.g., press releases, mailings, story pitches). For this we expect you to create and execute a communications strategy and roadmap to cultivate and engage meaningful relationships with targeted, relevant external audiences, including the media and key opinion leaders.


A key priority is you leading our PR D2P (direct-to-patient) efforts in Germany by defining priorities bi-weekly with Germany’s country leadership team, including interesting data and insights to share, exciting headlines to pitch, and then reaching out to media contacts to get Oviva featured across relevant outlets.


You will be supporting other countries on an adhoc basis and collaborating with local marketing teams to adapt content to local specificity. The goal is to get our Oviva core story and content heard by as many patients, doctors, and health insurances as possible.


Last, but not least a small fraction of your tasks will be to support our CEO with internal and external communication (10% of capacity).


Job requirements

What we are looking for you to bring:


  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive communications and media relations strategy to advance an organisation's vision, ideally 5+ years experience

  • Highly adaptable approach with the ability to thrive within the rapidly evolving scaleup landscape, prior startup/scaleup experience is a plus

  • Results focused with demonstrable success of driving results through data insights

  • A pragmatic growth mindset - there are always areas to improve and overcoming obstacles is a natural part of the process

  • Creative mind and strong storytelling techniques for press releases and CEO communication

  • Contacts with relevant media outlets, focus on Germany (pitching to media)

  • Excellent oral and written skills in German and English; French is nice to have

  • Proactive, communicative, structured and organised

  • Knowledge of some PR tools (e.g. Cision, Laterna) would be great to establish efficient internal processes; good knowledge of G-Suite for emails, documents, etc..
