Role Overview 

We are looking for a Specialist Paediatric Dietitian to deliver the Cow’s Milk Allergy (CMA) service. Oviva provides digitally-enabled dietetic services to the NHS, including many successful medicines optimisation services to improve the care of infants with CMA and reduce unnecessary prescribing spend on infant formula.

The successful candidate will be confident in managing infants and children with non IgE CMA, together with proven general paediatric dietetic experience You will be responsible for supporting the programme service manager and delivering our unique remote care pathway supported by Oviva’s technology. You will need to be a good communicator, working with health professionals and key stakeholders. You must be confident working autonomously.

we currently have one full time position and one fixed term contract for 12 months.

Job requirements

Key responsibilities & deliverables

  • To deliver a remote rapid access clinic to patients with suspected non IgE cow’s milk allergy, via telephone, video call and app messaging. This will be, supported by Oviva’s technology and, alongside the specialist paediatric dietitians.

  • Deliver care to patients with suspected or diagnosed with CMA. This will involve ensuring the reintroduction challenge is conducted to confirm correct diagnosis, as well as checking and reviewing prescriptions are in line with the local guideline. You will also support parents/carers with weaning and the milk ladder in order to stop prescriptions in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical records using Oviva’s secure electronic medical record system

  • Contribute patient resources including our unique Oviva ‘learn’ education platform.

  • Maintaining adequate CPD and continuing to meet HCPC registration requirements

  • Be able to work autonomously and within the wider paediatric team

  • A dietitian that has significant experience working in paediatrics with experience in management of food allergy


  • An appropriate degree and registration with HCPC

  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Membership of BDA


  • Broad, varied and in depth experience of clinical dietetics (minimum 2 years post registration including at least 6 months experience working within specialist area)
  • Working in the community / primary care settings

  • Specialist knowledge in Paediatrics including managing paediatric allergy and CMA

  • Experience of developing, implementing and managing projects

  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working


  • Ability to demonstrate sound and in depth knowledge and application of up to date evidence based, clinical trends and practices in CMA and wider paediatric allergy
  • Evidence of problem solving and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with other professionals
  • Evidence of excellent verbal communication skills at all levels
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to thrive in challenging situations
  • Be able to prioritise when needed and work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service
  • Ability to generate written communication which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible
  • Competent user of IT equipment and basic software (email, word processing, data input

Education & Qualifications

  • An appropriate degree and registration with HCPC

  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Membership of BDA
