We are currently seeking an Independent Non Medical Prescriber. This position is a full time position working 40 hours per week.

The Role:
Oviva is seeking a highly motivated and patient-centred independent non-medical prescriber with a strong interest in supporting individuals with obesity to join our Specialist Weight Management Services on an initial fixed-term 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our expanding team, with the potential to transition to a permanent position if the service continues to grow as anticipated. You will Act as an independent prescriber within the Tier 3 services to initiate and manage novel injectable obesity treatments, including Wegovy. Liaise in house with other members of the MDT plus act as point of contact to our primary care colleagues. Will report to Lead Nurse Yvonne McKeown. There will be options to work between 0-30 hours per week.
Oviva is committed to your professional development. While prior experience with GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RAs) is preferable, we will provide comprehensive training and ongoing supervision to ensure you develop the necessary competencies for safe and effective GLP1-RA prescribing and management. This includes training on clinical obesity management and the medications themselves. With success in this role, you could pursue further development opportunities within Oviva.
Job requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Utilise a digital platform to efficiently and thoroughly assess patient eligibility and suitability for GLP-1 RA therapy, adhering to national and local guidelines
Maintain accurate records, audits and tracker within expected time frames and adhere to professional codes
Effectively manage your caseload and time to achieve optimal clinical effectiveness while prioritising patient safety. Response to urgent clinical matters as needed and know when to signpost or escalate if beyond your own scope.
Work closely with the administrative and dietetic teams to ensure a smooth patient journey - from onboarding to discharge.
Liaise with our primary care colleagues as needed
Provide cross cover for other programmes, such as t2DR and/or other tasks within Tier 3 as needed
Keep up to date with prescribing requirements to maintain Independent Prescriber rights
A flexible approach to work, willingly adapting to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges
What are we looking for you to bring :
Essential:
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Registered Health Professional (physio, paramedic) with HCPC
Full eligibility to live/ work in the UK
Independent Prescriber qualification with a minimum of 1 years experience
Maintenance of registration with the appropriate governing body
Ability to demonstrate resilience in challenging situations
Self-driven and capable of working autonomously
Ability to organise and prioritise workload
Strong interpersonal skills
Desirable:
Relevant experience of carrying out remote assessments
Good knowledge of research and developments relevant to the field of Obesity
Experience of prescribing and titrating Glp-1 Ra medications
